How to read a line without chasing it
The number on the board is the price the book is willing to offer. It is not a forecast from Bet Milwaukee, and it is not a debt the game owes you.
The price
American odds are a way of writing that price. A minus number is the favorite: you risk more than you win. A plus number is the underdog: you risk less than you would win. The juice is why both sides of a fair-looking game are usually priced a little past even. None of that is a suggestion to bet either side.
What we will not add
No model, no lock, no 'value' stamp. If you want a number, get it from the legal book at the moment you bet. A line copied onto a guide is already old.
The chase
Raising the next stake to get the last one back is not reading the line. It is changing the plan after the result. If that is the pattern, the useful page is the helpline, not a better explanation of minus-110.
